On November 24, 2022, a solemn opening ceremony of the commemorative bust of the first cosmonaut of the Earth took place in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on the territory of the Gagarin Russian-Tajik School.
The ceremony was attended by such distinguished guests as the Secretary General of the Russian Association for International Cooperation Vladimir Mikhailovich Polozkov and Russian cosmonaut Salizhan Shakirovich Sharipov.
This landmark event will be one of the important steps in preserving and further strengthening friendly ties, mutual understanding and cooperation, and will facilitate the exchange of cultural values between the peoples of our countries.
The bronze bust of Yuri Gagarin, made by sculptor Alexey Leonov, was donated to the Tajik side by the International Charitable Foundation "Dialogue of Cultures – United World" with the active assistance of the Russian Embassy in Tajikistan. Since 2011, the Foundation has been implementing a project to install busts and monuments to Yuri Gagarin as a symbol of dialogue between countries and unity of the peoples of the Earth in the name of peaceful goals.
