On New Year's Eve, a new local history exhibition was opened in the Bezhetsky Memorial Literary and Local History Museum. For many years, there was no museum exposition in Bezhetsk that would tell about the history of the region. Now residents and guests of the city have the opportunity to get acquainted with the centuries-old history of the Bezhetsky land, the traditions of its inhabitants, the contribution of Bezhechans to the history and culture of the region and Russia as a whole.
On December 23, the grand opening of the local history exposition took place. The Minister of Culture of the Tver region, Ksenia Olegovna Glinka, congratulated residents and guests of the city on this important event for the entire cultural life of the region. She thanked the team for creating a modern and beautiful exhibition. She also noted the importance of a reverent attitude to history, which is formed in local history museums. The Head of the Bezhetsky district, Pavlov Igor Anatolyevich, addressed with a welcoming speech, noting that for the city this is a new example of an integrated approach to the reconstruction of buildings.
The General Director of the Tver State United Museum, Irina Repina, thanked all the employees who took part in the creation of the exhibition, noting each with letters of thanks. The team of the Neo EXPO Art LLC team was not left without attention, which, with high professionalism and careful attitude to museum exhibits, turned the concept into reality.
The exposition is opened by the materials of archaeological excavations, among which is a unique female headdress – a hairpiece with Italian gold lace and a gold ribbon. The tools of agriculture and flax growing, household items and costumes, samples of needlework presented in the exhibition tell about the economic and cultural identity of the Bezhetsky peasantry. The atmosphere of the county town of Bezhetsk at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries allows you to immerse yourself in the objects of fair and store trade, the layout of the railway station "Bezhetsk", a pavilion camera, as well as photos of the Bezhetsky photographer P.M. Druzhinin. The theme of the Bezhetsky nobility is represented by family portraits and memorabilia from the Boriskovo estate of the ancient Kuzmin-Karavaev family. Among the natives of Bezhetsky Uyezd and the owners of estates are figures of Tver and Russian history – Prime Minister B.V. Shturmer, Minister of Railways M.I. Khilkov, writers and philanthropists F.N. and A.P. Glinka.
The development of banking was of great importance for the trade and entrepreneurship of Bezhetsk at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. The exhibition presents a conditional interior of the office of the manager of the branch of the State Bank in the former house of the Nevorotins.
The crucial events during the First World War and the revolution of 1917 reveal photographs of demonstrations, leaflets and orders, newspapers printed in the printing house of the Bezhetsky Zemstvo. Authentic objects and documents tell about the contribution of Bezhechan to the victory in the Great Patriotic War on the fronts and in the rear.
Recall that in the autumn of 2022, two expositions dedicated to great cultural figures, natives of the city – the writer Vyacheslav Yakovlevich Shishkov and the founder of the Great Russian Orchestra – Vasily Vasilyevich Andreev were opened in Bezhetsk. Two exhibition halls and a concert hall were also created in the museum. In connection with the opening of the local history exposition, the Bezhetsky Memorial, Literary and Local History Museum has become a truly large cultural complex in the very center of the city.
